The Browns in Concert
Save the Date!
You are invited to worship with the Browns at Trinity CRC, Rock Valley, on Sunday, September 29 at 6pm. Experience their powerful Gospel message through word and song. Invite friends and family! A freewill offering will be received for flood relief and to cover expenses.
Organist Arjan Breukhoven in Concert
Dutch organist Arjan Breukhoven will present an organ/piano recital on Monday, September 23, at 7:00pm at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center (321 2nd Street SE). Together with Liz Van Maanen, clarinet, he will present a diverse program with hymn-based improvisations, classical pieces, and popular works. If you would like to hear Arjan play but you have a conflict on the 23rd, he will also present solo organ recitals on Tuesday, September 24, at The Rock Community Church in Rock Rapids (302 S Carroll Street); on Thursday, September 26, at First CRC in Orange City (408 Arizona Ave SW); and on Friday, September 27, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls (909 W 33rd Street). All recitals start at 7:00pm, have free admission, different programs, and a retiring collection to cover Arjan’s expenses. After the recitals, there will be a few of Arjan’s CDs available for purchase. All are welcome!
Dordt University
Friday, September 13: You are cordially invited to the BJ Haan Auditorium at 7:00 pm on September 13th for the annual POPS Concert performed by the Dordt University Instrumental Ensembles. This year the Chamber Orchestra and Mass Band will raise the red, white, and blue as they perform a concert of patriotic favorites! Come and join us for an evening of inspiration and fun.
Friday, September 20: Award-winning musician Hannah Hickman will perform a saxophone recital in the BJ Haan Auditorium on September 20 at 7:00 p.m. Hickman, having grown up in Sheldon, IA, holds music degrees in music education and saxophone performance and is currently studying for her doctoral degree.
Friday, September 27: The annual Dordt University Honors Recital will take place on Friday, September 27, at 3:10 p.m., in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Performers in the honors recital have all received named music scholarships made possible by Dort University donors. All are welcome to a reception honoring the performers in the lobby of the auditorium following the recital.
Dordt Honor Choir Concert Sept. 28
On Sept. 26-28, ninety-five high school choral singers will join us on campus at Dordt University for the Dordt University Honor Choir Weekend. Attendees come from Iowa, Minnesota, and Indiana and were recommended by their individual choir directors. The ensemble will spend Thursday evening, Friday, and Saturday morning in rehearsals and will give a final concert at 1pm on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Honor Choir will be conducted by Dr. Ryan Smit, Director of Choral Activities at Dordt University.
Inspiration Hills
This is DJ from Inspiration Hills. I just wanted to send a message to your church about the upcoming Middle School Retreat we're hosting here at Inspiration Hills! The event will be taking place on October 11-13 and is a great opportunity for any 6th-8th graders in your church to come attend. The 3 day weekend will include snacks and food cooked fresh by our kitchen staff, Bible studies, and various activities unique to the Autumn season! It's a great way for campers to encounter Christ in a fun environment. The price is $185 per camper, but scholarships are available on our website as well. Love INC
Love INC Sioux County values prayer! You’re invited to join us at a prayer gathering on Tuesday, September 17 at 8:00 a.m. at the Love INC office (1317 Main Street) in Rock Valley. We are gathering again to pray for the communities impacted by the flood. ALL ARE WELCOME!
For those of you who are prayer warriors we are looking to add to our Prayer Team so this would also be a good time to hear more about that! Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.”
As people in our community continue to cope with the aftermath of the flood, Love INC Sioux County is partnering with Hegg Health Center, Bethesda Christian Counseling, and Creative Living Center to offer “Healing After the Flood” a series of presentations to offer hope, education, and support. Join us on Wednesday nights (September 18, 25 and October 2, 9) at the Parkview Event Center in Rock Valley at 7 p.m. Topics include managing stress during challenging times, communicating with kids to help them heal, self-care to promote healing and coping with grief and loss. Love & Learn Classes begin September 10 and are held Tuesdays from 6:45-8:15pm at Trinity CRC. The classes offered are: Faith and Finances, Grief Share, Boundaries, & Redemptive Compassion. Justice For All
Justice For All invites you to attend the Annual Meeting on Tues, Oct 22 at 5:00PM at the Rock Valley Event Center. Along with the business meeting a delicious meal will be served. Because of the historic flood in June, JFA will not hold their fall auction so that many businesses and individuals who generally donate towards the auction can continue to get back on their feet. In place of the auction, JFA will host a panel of area ministries who will share their ministry but also how through collaboration, many needs continue to be met in our local area. Please join us as we celebrate JFA ministry over the past year and look forward to what God is calling JFA to in the next year! An offering will be taken for JFA ministry.
JUSTICE FOR ALL is planning the 2025 Service and Learning Opportunities and would love to have you join one of the teams! These weeks are wonderful opportunities to serve others but also to experience and understand God’s Kingdom in new and important ways! Dates and places: Harvest Hands Ministries, Juarez, MX – January 17-25; JVMPerkins Foundation, Jackson MS – February 1-7; Voice of Calvary Ministries, Jackson, MS - February 8-14; Grace Covenant Ministries, Annville, KY – March 1-7; Grace Reigns, Colorado City AZ – April 4-12. Each week is a wonderful opportunity of building relationships with people from a community which is very different than our own, through serving, learning, and studying God’s Word together. Sioux County Health Partners
Sioux Center Health and Community Health Partners of Sioux County are hosting a Keys to Dementia Prevention class. This program is designed for people ages 50+ with no previous dementia diagnosis. Learn the 10 lifestyle factors that are proven to prevent or delay dementia. The class will begin September 9, running every Monday from 9:30-11:30am until November 11 at Crown Pointe – The Gathering Place. During the 10-class program, enjoy brain healthy snacks, educational materials and one-on-one time with subject-matter experts. Registration deadline is September 4.
TRI-STATE BIBLE CONFERENCE
ARE WE LIVING IN THE END TIMES?
Have you ever wondered if these are the ‘last days,’ and what this may mean for the church? Mid-America Seminary President Emeritus Dr. Cornelis Venema will answer these questions during the sixth annual Tri-State Bible Conference, 7:00 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, September 23 & 24 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church (341 S. Main, Sioux Center). Monday topics are “"The 'Rapture' and the Future of the Church: A Reformed Response to Dispensationalism" and "The 'Signs of the Time' and the End of the Age: A Reformed Reading of the 'Olivet Discourse.'" Tuesday evening, Dr. Venema will address "A Case for the Cessation of Apostles, Prophets, and Sign-gifts in the Church," and after the break answer questions.
Come, be instructed and refreshed! Hymn singing, book tables, refreshments, fellowship, and networking with other believers.
