Thursday,   March 5, 2009

We had another good day at the work site. The work was much the same. Pastor WayneDe Jong, another Missionary here in Guadalajara picked us up today at 8:15 to give Pastor Ben some family time. We continued to help with all aspects of plastering the inside of the church. We progressed to starting on the second floor with plaster work. We also got some work done on the plumbing situation. I am now so thankful for our church bathrooms. What is currently there is a toilet with no seat and no water tank and, of course, no sink and no purified water to wash your hands. At the end of the day a bucket of water takes care of the plumbing. We are working on setting up for a water tank on the roof. We decided to quit a little earlier today, so by 4:30 we were actually leaving the site instead of working until 5:00 and then having to clean up. We are back in our dorms and showered by 6:00.
We stepped out of our comfort zone just a bit tonite. We are so ready for some good American food. We got directions from Pastor Ben for an Apple Bee’s about 3 miles from our dorm. Mark drove the van while Pastor Vis helped navigate us there. Wow! Did that taste good! (Much to Vern’s dismay, there just happened to be a Walmart across the street.) The food that we have had has been very good, but just different than what we are used to. However, our digestive systems have adapted very well. Again, we give thanks to God for that. So it will probably be a relaxing evening in the dorms playing Scrabble, Rook or some other card game. We have not had a chance to do that yet. It has mostly been bedtime by the time we get back to our dorms after supper.

Henrietta and Sue are both doing well today after their little set backs yesterday.

We have had a tremendous experience here and it has been great, but I think everyone feels it will be good to be back home!
Again thanks for your prayers.
The Team!
